The Southern Maryland Civil War Round Table is pleased to announce that its next meeting will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 7:00pm at The Maryland Veterans Museum, 11000 Crain Highway North, Newburg, MD 20664.
Guest Speaker: Joseph DiNatale, Jr.
We are pleased to open the Round Table up tonight to on of our members, Joe DiNatale, as he introduces us to one of his Civil War ancestors, Pvt. Samuel Whitebread, who fought in the 147th Pennsylvania Infantry.

Using and referencing his great great grandfather’s personal journal, penned in 1908, Joe will regale us with incidents and experiences experience by Pvt. Whitebread. Among those will be the battles he fought in, the injury he sustained at Ringgold and his recovery, and the daily grind of Army life during the war.
Joseph DiNatale, Jr. has lived his entire life in Charles Co., MD., primarily in LaPlata. He attended school at Archbishop Neale, Ryken High School, then the University of Maryland College Park, where he received a BS degree at Univ. of Md. from the College of Business & Management in 1986. Upon completion of his senior year at Maryland, Joe began his own construction business, building primarily single family dwellings, and have owned that business ever since, only recently retiring. He is married to Lois and together, they have four children, and six grandchildren. They now reside in Dentsville. His hobbies include golf, coin collecting, and gardening and travel. They have traveled internationally, with trips to Ireland and Scotland and are planning a vacation to Sicily to visit the towns of my two paternal grandparents.
As usual, attendance is free, but membership is encouraged. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns at bsunderland@somdcwrt.org.
